Image Converter & Compressor (to Exact KB)
Convert HEIC, WebP or PNG to JPG and shrink photos under 100 KB or 50 KB for online forms. Free, private.
In plain words: Change a photo's format (for example iPhone HEIC to JPG), or shrink it below the size limit an online form demands. Pick the target size in KB and download. Limits vary, so check the portal's own rules.
How to Use Image Converter & Compressor (to Exact KB)
- Drop one or more images (HEIC, WebP, PNG, JPG, and AVIF where your browser supports it) onto the dropzone, paste from your clipboard (Ctrl+V), or click "Try with Sample Photo".
- Choose your output format (JPG, PNG or WebP), then either set the quality slider or pick a target file size (e.g. "Under 100 KB" for passport and government portals, or a custom KB target).
- Download each converted image, or click "Download All (.ZIP)" to get the whole batch in one archive.
Private In-Browser Image Conversion & Target-KB Compression
Many online converters upload your personal photos, ID scans or client files to their servers and limit how many you can convert each day. WeShoal's Image Converter & Target-KB Compressor does everything inside your browser using HTML5 Canvas, with an iPhone HEIC decoder that loads when you first drop a HEIC file. Your images never leave your device.
How Target-KB Compression Works
Government portals, visa applications, university admissions and job boards often reject photos larger than 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB. A normal slider makes you guess a quality percentage and hope the file fits. Our target-size mode searches for the highest quality that fits under your limit (6 quality steps), and if it still doesn't fit, shrinks the image dimensions a little and tries again. Very small targets on large photos may not be reachable, so check the final file size.
| Format | Best Use Case | Transparency | Browser Compression Efficiency |
|---|---|---|---|
| JPG / JPEG | Photographs, ID portals, email attachments | No (transparent areas become white) | High (tunable to a KB target) |
| PNG | Logos, screenshots, crisp UI graphics | Yes (8-bit alpha) | Lossless |
| WebP | Modern websites, e-commerce speed, blogs | Yes | Usually smaller than JPG at similar quality |
