A background remover that never uploads your photos

Most background removers send your image to a server. This one doesn't. The AI model runs inside your browser, so your photos stay on your device from start to finish. The only download is the model itself. Your browser saves it after the first visit, so next time it loads straight away.

Best quality uses BiRefNet-lite (MIT licence). Fast uses MODNet (Apache-2.0), a portrait-matting model. Phones start in Fast mode to save data. With WebGPU an image usually takes a second or two.

Tips

  • Photos where the subject stands out clearly work best. Even lighting helps around hair.
  • Very fine hair or fur against busy backgrounds may come out a little soft (the mask is computed at 512 px, then scaled up).
